Questions related to the postponement of conference (April, 2020)

Q1. I had paid my conference registration fee – now that the event is held virtually, how do I get my refund?

All paid registered participants will be able to get a refund, the registration fees including the Green Hero carbon-offset contribution (if you selected this option), will be reimbursed. We will essentially reimburse the amount that we received when you registered (not reimbursed: bank transfer fees and any other expense related to the registration process).

Q2. I am a sponsor/exhibitor – now that the event is held virtually, what are my options?

​

All sponsors and exhibitors will have the option to transfer their contribution and exhibition booking to the virtual event or to be reimbursed.

Q3. What is happening to the speakers and sessions that would have been presented at the Conference?

​

All sessions and speaker proposals that were submitted have been contacted to reconfirm their availability to be involved in the virtual Conference.

 

There will be 21 one-hour sessions on topics focused around the 3 key themes: our oceans, our islands, our connection with nature. If speakers are interested to be involved in the conference, you can either:

 

  1. Join a working group that develops a session around a topic of the Conference;

  2. Share your original ideas as a Lightning Story or as Striking Facts on the gallery; or

  3. Organise a local event connected to the Conference.

Q4. What is happening to the PIELA Awards – will they still take place?

​

We will honor and celebrate our environmental leaders during an event in 2021.  The dates in 2021 and venue are to be determined.
