To mark the importance of a Pacific initiated agenda for Nature Conservation for 2020 and beyond, the organizers will convene a regional High-Level Segment on 26 November 2020 as part of the 10th Pacific Islands Conference for Nature Conservation and Protected Areas.

This High-Level Segment on nature conservation action in Pacific Island countries and territories 2020-2025, will be a meeting of government Ministers and Heads of Organisations of the PIRT members.

The meeting will give Pacific countries and territories Member States and PIRT members the opportunity to express commitment to regional priorities and support a post-engagement strategy. The first step of that strategy is to raise the Pacific voice on the 15th Conference of Parties (COP15) to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

The outcomes of the conference and the High-Level Segment should support the objectives to:
-
Influence the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework
-
Guide and innovate conservation action at a national and regional level in Oceania
-
Secure sustainable funding for nature conservation in Oceania
